The President of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Mr. Cesar Garrido along with his team Ms. Salome Mekhuzla (Director-Global Development-WFH) & Mr. Harshal Kale (South and East Asia Region Manager-WFH) visited Nepal from 25th November 2022 to 27th November 2022. During the visit, several meetings were held where the major agendas were centered on the planning and execution of activities for sustainable welfare programs for People with Hemophilia (PWH).

On 25th November 2022, Mr. Garrido and the WFH team and a team from Nepal Hemophilia Society (NHS) visited the Ministry of Health and Population where a meeting was held with the Honorable Minister of Health and Population Mr. Bhawani Prasad Khapung. During the meeting, the team of WFH and NHS informed Hon. Minister regarding Hemophilia, the current status of PWH in Nepal, and the necessary steps to be taken for the welfare of PWH in Nepal. Furthermore, Hon. Minister also promised to introduce programs for PWH in Nepal and requested to contact Health Coordination Division for planning such programs.

A meeting was also held between a team of WFH and a team of NHS in Bijulibazar, Kathmandu on the evening on 25th November 2022. The team of NHS gave a short description of the condition of PWH in Nepal, current projects under the support of WFH, the progress made so far in the field of Bleeding Disorders (BDs), and future courses of activities to be conducted as well. Mr. Garrido also promised to continue the support programs and achieve more in the days to come.
On 26th November 2022, Mr. Garrido and his team visited different hospitals including Bir Hospital, Civil Service Hospital, and Kanti Children Hospital. During those visits, Mr. Garrido and his team communicated with Hematologists and got information regarding the current scenario of diagnosis and treatment of PWH in Nepal.

Mr. Garrido and his team also talked with a few PWH. A few of the PWH were not able to perform their surgery due to a lack of Factor X. So, after meeting them Mr. Garrido promised that his team will try their level best to manage those factors as soon as possible via Humanitarian Aid. On the same day, the team of WFH visited the central office of the Nepal Hemophilia Society (NHS), Anamnagar, Kathmandu.

Regarding this entire visit of a team of WFH, the President of Nepal Hemophilia Society, Mr. Mukunda Mani Ghimire said: “This time will be marked as the golden history for the entire PWH community in Nepal”.
Mr. Garrido and his team flew back on 27th November 2022, leaving new energy and hope for the entire PWH community in Nepal.
