The Nepal Hemophilia Society, with the support of the World Federation of Hemophilia’s (WFH) PACT Program, successfully concluded the “Workshop on Hemophilia Diagnosis, Management, and Complications.” This significant event took place at the Surya Heritage Hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, spanning two days from August 19-20, 2023. The workshop brought together a diverse group of healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing their knowledge and expertise in the field of hemophilia from all corners of Nepal.
Day 1: Empowering Healthcare Professionals
The workshop commenced with an air of enthusiasm as participants gathered to explore the multifaceted world of hemophilia. The event began with an inspiring opening ceremony led by notable panelists, Dr. Aby Abraham, and Dr. Nitty Skaria Matthews & Dr. Bishesh Poudyal. Their presence set a tone of collaboration and dedication. Mr. Harshal Kale, in his introductory remarks, outlined the workshop’s objectives.

The morning session proved enlightening with presentations that included a comprehensive overview of hemophilia by Aby Abraham, insights into laboratory diagnosis by Nitty Skaria Matthew, and an exploration of complications arising from different bleeds by Bishesh Poudyal. This session featured HTC presentations, discussions on treatment regimes and inhibitors, and insights into the essential role of a multidisciplinary team in hemophilia care, all facilitated by experts in the field.

Day 2: Advancing Hemophilia Care
The second day of the workshop continued the journey towards enhancing hemophilia care in Nepal. The day’s sessions included in-depth explorations of gene therapy, the collaboration between the Nepal Hemophilia Society and WFH, introductions to WFH programs, and insights into the WFH Humanitarian Aid Program in Nepal.
